Kwara state prepares to re-open tertiary institution in the state

As the Kwara state prepares to re-open tertiary instituion in the state, the Joint Academic Staff Unions in Tertiary institutions, Kwara state chapter has urged Governor Abdul rasaq Abdulrahman to also consider implementing its demands from the state government.

The request was contained in a communiqué issued and jointly signed by Chairman of the union Comrade Olaseinde Balikis and secretary Comrade Mustafa Ajadi, at the end of an emergency meeting of the union held in Ilorin and copies made available to sobi fm today in Ilorin. Among the demands of the union is the implementation of the approved consolidated polytechnics and colleges of education Academic Staff Salary approved since 2019, the implementation of approved retirement age and length of service of 65 years of age or 40 years in service. Other demands of the union is regularizations of the disparity in the tax deductions across the institutions which the union says is giving room for over taxation of its members in some, with a call for the enforcement of statutory provisions in tax deductions to achieve uniformity.

The union however said that should the government posture on its plight remains the same they would have no choice than to commence industrial actions affecting every form of services being rendered by its members.
