PurposeÂ
Youth Initiative against Terrorism as part of a consortium with Denis Mukwuege Foudation and Grassroots Researchers Association has launched a twenty-four (24) months European Union funded project. The project aims to support conflict-affected youth in Northeastern Nigeria to participate in a meaningful and structured way, at local and national levels, in conflict prevention, the protection of civilians, peacebuilding, mediation and conflict resolution efforts, actively promoting the rights of the most vulnerable in society, therefore supporting the attainment of SDG 16 on promoting just, peaceful and inclusive societies.
The State Coordinator will support the Project Manager in planning activities while also working with partners in activity implementation. S/he will be involved in activity monitoring and liaising with project stakeholders, and periodic reporting. The State Coordinator supports the Project Manager in planning activities, working with partners to implement, monitoring and liaising with project stakeholders, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Project implementationÂ
a. Work with the Project Manager and implementing partners to develop and update monthly, quarterly and annual work plans
 b. Ensure financial and logistical preparation of activities in line with work plan and project strategyÂ
c. Develop and maintain relationships with key project stakeholders at activity sites, including implementing partner staffÂ
d. Lead and facilitate activities, as requiredÂ
e. Monitor the conflict context in activity sites and provide timely feedback to the Project ManagerÂ
f. Liaise and coordinate with other NGOs operating in activity sites.
Financial managementÂ
a. Plan activity expenditure and request funds in a timely and accurate mannerÂ
b. Oversee expenditure during activities (including implementing partner activities) and ensure this is in line with project outcomes and donor policiesÂ
c. Ensure compliant financial documentation is collected during activities
Reporting, monitoring and evaluationÂ
a. Contribute to developing and implementing project monitoring and evaluation plan
 b. Collect quantitative and qualitative information during activities in line with M&E planÂ
c. Support project assessments, at inception, mid-term and end of project evaluations, including participating in data collectionÂ
d. Prepare activity reports and contribute to donor reportsÂ
e. Collect case study information and follow-up with project participants
Coordination with other YIAT staff and stakeholders in the regionÂ
a. Participate actively in the management processes of the team, including team meetings, sharing of information, context analysis, and strategy developmentÂ
b. Participate in relevant state level strategic forums, as delegated by line managerÂ
c. Collaborate with the Project Manager to provide regular security and context analysis which will inform program adaptation.Â
d. Any other reasonable activities as determined by the line manage
Qualifications and Experience
- University degree/HND in relevant field
- At least 5 years of work experience in peacebuilding, transitional justice, democratic governance or similar field. Experience with an international NGO would be an asset
- Demonstrated experience working in northern Nigeria.
- Experience working on youth’s engagement interventions.
- Excellent coordination and communication skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work under pressure.
English (oral and written), and Hausa fluency. Knowledge of any other languages prevalent in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe would be an advantage.
