BREAKING: Industrial Court Stop Pensions For Former Speakers And Deputies, In Cross River

Hon Larry Odey had instituted Suit No. NICN/CA/11/2020 in the Industrial Court, Calabar, seeking a declaration that he was entitled to pension as former Governor having acted in that capacity.

But on 3rd of June 2021, the Industrial Court delivered her judgement via zoom, nullifying the sections of the Cross River State Gubernatorial Pensions Law 2005, as was ammended in 2015, to include former Speakers and Deputy Speakers.

By the judgement, former Speakers and Deputy Speakers who had hitherto enjoyed a pension of 1.2million monthly and are currently seeking to increase it to N1.8million, are no longer entitled to any pension at all.
