The collation of results of the Anambra State governorship election has been suspended by the Returning Officer, Prof. Florence Obi, over pending election in one of the 21 local government areas of the state – Ihiala LGA.
During the collation of the election results earlier on Sunday, it was discovered that election did not hold in Ihiala LGA.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Obi, in the wee hours of Monday after the collation of results from 20 LGAs so far, said election did not hold in Ihiala LGA due to the fact that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) could not deploy electoral materials to the area owing to security concerns.

Citing relevant sections of the Electoral Act 2010 and other regulations of the electoral umpire, Prof. Obi said the final outcome of the Anambra governorship election cannot be determined except with the result of Ihiala LGA, hence a supplementary election will be held in the local government area on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 in order to conclude the whole exercise.
Total votes polled by the four leading political parties in 20 out of the total 21 LGAs of the state show that APC – 42,942; APGA – 103,946; PDP – 51,322, and YPP – 20,917.
