EHA Clinics, a subsidiary of eHealth Systems Africa Foundation is deploying innovative technology-driven modular clinics with the ability to combine several critical accelerators to dramatically scale up comprehensive primary health care access in Nigeria. We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Intern, Software Engineering

Location: Abuja (FCT) or Kano
Department: EHA Clinics – Clinical and Laboratory Informatics
Reports to: Technical Lead, informatics

Purpose of the Position 

• The intern will work with the informatics team of EHACLINICS to build and manage enterprise systems under the mentorship of senior engineers who will coach you on development best practices.
• Adequate metrics and records are put together in collaboration with all departments to ensure projects and initiatives are monitored effectively to achieve EHA Clinics’ goals.

Description of Tasks 
The intern must have sufficient knowledge of at least one programming language preferable python and is expected to:

• Take ownership of products under the supervision of a Senior Engineer
• Be a collaborative member of the team
• Have a deep understanding of data structure and algorithm
• Will be part of a scrum team and have some knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle
• Ability to write clean code
• Some knowledge of unit testing
• Experience working with a virtualization system is an added advantage but not required
• Complete necessary reports and documentations
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the line manager.
• Any other tasks assigned by the Management.

Duration and dedication:

• Six months, with the possibility of an extension.- Dedication: 40 hours/ week (Monday – Friday)

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or any such related field will be preferred.
• Graduates of tertiary institutions and National Youth Service Corps members can apply.
• This is an intern position and as such, minimal experience is required.
• The Candidate must have worked with at least one programming language.

Skills to be developed:

• This position will expose you to developing and managing enterprise systems which include our EMR, ERP, and mobile application

• To perform this role successfully, the Medical Doctor will perform the following responsibilities in relation to all clinics which will include but are not limited to:

Clinical Tasks:

• Participate in all treatment and preventative healthcare services as delegated and agreed by the supervising Practice Manager(s).
• Provide direct clinical care to patients using established clinical guidelines.
• Interview patients, take medical histories, perform physical examinations, analyze, diagnose and explain medical problems during surgery consultations and home visits.

The requirements listed below are the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform this job:

• You have a Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Design, or equivalent.
• You have up to 3 years of experience designing for mobile and web.
• You have an understanding of the end-to-end design process, including user research, interaction design, interface, and information design, and visual design.
• You have a good eye for design and possess knowledge of design principles.
• You have expertise in the craft of design with a portfolio showing some combination of user journeys, wireframes, visual design, and prototypes.
• You demonstrate the ability to keep the user at the center of the product development process.
• You have a basic awareness of front-end technologies such as HTML/Javascript.
• You are motivated to gain technical expertise in front-end development to implementing your own designs.
• You are hands-on and a team player.
• You work independently and are results-driven, and you show a high level of performance motivation.
• You are flexible and enjoy working in an environment of rapid change.
• You are a truly caring person, communicative and open-minded.

Working Hours:

• The UI Designer is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week. All staff at EHA Clinics are occasionally expected to work beyond the mandated 8 hours a day when the need occurs.

Salary
Competitive salary scale which is negotiable, but performance-based.
