Drama At Annual Nigerian Accountants’ Conference As Participants Boo Ailing APC Presidential Candidate, Tinubu Over His Absence

Participants at the ongoing 52nd Annual Accountants Conference in Abuja on Wednesday booed the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu over his absence at the event.

Tinubu who was formally invited to speak at the event, along with some other presidential candidates.

Trouble started when Maope Ogun, the broadcaster who moderated the session announced the name of the presidential candidate of the APC, though he was not in attendance. The participants were heard shouting, “No,” “No,” “No.”

It took the intervention of the moderator who rephrased her statement by saying the presidential candidate of the APC might join them later.

The event was interrupted for a few minutes despite all the efforts of the moderator to stop the booing and jeering by the participants.

Meanwhile the hall was electrified when the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore was called upon to address the conference.

Tinubu was also absent at the Nigerian Bar Association Conference in August. His running mate, Kashim Shettima, represented him at the biggest gathering of Nigerian legal practitioners.

There have been concerns from observers over Tinubu’s health status following his recent medical trip to the United Kingdom. He returned to Nigeria on Thursday, October 6 after spending 12 days in London, where he had gone to see his doctors.

It was exclusively reported that the former Lagos governor went to see his doctors at a Central London Clinic.

“Our principal, Tinubu is sick and tired. He is expected to see his doctors in London today at a Central London Clinic.

In July 2021, Tinubu was hospitalised in Maryland, United States.

Tinubu, who had several medical trips during the year, had surgeries.

“Tinubu is hospitalised in Maryland, US. His health is failing. He couldn’t participate in launching his Arewa library, and he couldn’t participate in the local government area elections last week. He could not attend today’s APC congress due to health reasons.

“He had a surgery last week,” an authoritative source had disclosed at that time.

In January 2021, Tinubu was also reported sick and hospitalised in Paris, France. Tinubu had earlier complained of exhaustion and had travelled out to rest before the news of his collapse went viral.

He was flown to Paris for medical attention in the first week of January.

Gistcore media in June 2021 reported that Tinubu was also in Paris battling some old age illnesses.
