
The Enugu command of the Nigeria Police Force says it rescued four kidnapped victims in Akama-Oghe forest in the Ezeagu Local Government Area of the state on Saturday.
The rescued victims are three males and a female, who were reported to have been kidnapped on December 23, 2022, along 9th Mile/Eke/Akama-Oghe Road at about 8 pm.
A statement by the command’s spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe, on Sunday, said the victims were rescued by police personnel attached to the Iwollo Division of the command, in collaboration with Neighbourhood Watch personnel and Forest Guards, at about 10 am on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
According to him, “the operatives equally recovered a black-coloured Mercedes Benz car belonging to one of the victims, while all the victims have been debriefed and reunited with their families”.
“Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Ammani has ordered tactical operatives of the command to sustain ongoing manhunt of the kidnapping suspects, who abandoned the victims and escaped due to the intense pressure mounted by the operatives to rescue the victims and apprehend them,” the statement added.
