The Federal Capital Territory police command has arrested scores of suspected terrorists in a hotel in the Masaka area of Nasarawa State, North Central Nigeria.

According to the security operatives, the hotel served as a hideout for the criminals.

Masaka, a district in Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa, is 21 km away from Abuja.

A video filmed by the security operatives and obtained by SaharaReporters shows the guns, bulletproof vests, and ammunition among others reportedly recovered from the suspects.

The suspected terrorists – male and female – were at a location known as ‘You and You Hotel’ at Masaka Area 1.

The spokesman for the Nasarawa State Police Command of the NSCDC, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters on Friday but said the operation was carried out by the Federal Capital Territory Command because of the closeness of the community to Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

Attacks from terrorists and other non-state actors have targeted Nasarawa and neighbouring states, including the Federal Capital Territory in recent times.

For instance, it was reported that the wife of the Commander of the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Apollos Dan-Daura was abducted by terrorists in the Shege area of Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital last November.

The Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Command of the NSCDC, Jerry Victor confirmed, saying the younger brother of the Deputy Commandant was in an undisclosed hospital receiving treatment.
