The Lamidi Apapa-led Labour Party has accused the suspended National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure of misappropriating billions of naira meant for party activities.

The Apapa group also demanded an explanation from Abure on how some party monies were traced to his and his wife’s bank accounts.
The statement reads: “That the NEC meeting of March 27th notice to INEC purported to have been jointly signed by the then Acting National Chairman Mrs Maria Labake and Julius Abure was forged as that woman was never aware of the import of that NEC meeting.
“That he needed to purge himself of over two billion naira of Labour party campaign fund including agent money meant for February 25th Presidential Election.
“Abure needs to explain how the sum of one hundred and fifty million dollars vanishes into thin air but today he has two duplexes in highbrow area of Abuja and his family members are contractors in Labour Party office.
“Abure needs to explain all the party money that was paid into his personal account, business account and his wife account before the general election.
“Abure needs to explain how several million of Naira he took in Imo State, Bayelsa State and Edo State found their way into his company account Ever Ready Transport Service and his wife business account Zenith Caterers and Rentals.”
“Furthermore in view of the above, every decision taken by Barr. Julius Abure from on the 31st day of March 2023 when he was suspended and action or decision taken jointly or separately by him and the National Secretary, Alh Faruk Umar, the National Organising Secretary, Mr. Clem Ojukwu and the National Treasurer Miss Oluchi from on the 5th of April are all action(s) taken in violation of the Order of the court of competent jurisdiction and therefore null and void and are all exercises in futility,” the statement added.
Abure, SaharaReporters had reported, was suspended as the national chairman of Labour Party after a Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, ordered that he should stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.
He was barred alongside the National Secretary, Umar Farouk Ibrahim; the National Treasurer, Oluchi Opara; and the National Organising Secretary, Clement Ojukwu, over alleged forgery.
Justice Hamza Muazu also ordered that the originating processes of the court be served on Abure and others.
It was reported that the order came a week after Abure’s ward in the Edo State chapter of his party suspended him over alleged anti-party activities.
It had also been reported Abure and his national executive committee may be charged to court for forgery, conspiracy and perjury after a police investigation on the alleged forgery of signatures of candidates who won party primaries and their tickets were swapped with other persons indicted them.
