According to a recent report, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf is reportedly planning to reinstate the deposed 35th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
This development comes after the previous Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, dethroned Sanusi Lamido, citing the need to protect the system and preserve the traditional institution from potential abuse.

In April 2014, former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan removed Sanusi from his position as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The decision was made following Sanusi’s allegations that a sum of $49 billion had been embezzled by certain individuals during the Jonathan administration.
According to Ganduje, Sanusi was not the best man for the throne at the time he was appointed in June 2014, saying that the deposed emir was appointed to spite former President Goodluck Jonathan.
However, due to the strong rapport established between the new governor and the deposed Emir, the likelihood of the Emir reclaiming his seat is considerably high.
