Some staff members of the National Population Commission recruited in August 2022 have lamented that they have not been paid salaries since they were recruited by the commission.

Some of the aggrieved NPC staff members said since they were recruited on August 15, 2022, only a few of them have received salaries while many others are yet to receive any salary.

According to them, Kano State alone has more than 10 new staff members recruited in August 2022 but only four of them have received salaries while others have not received theirs to date.

“The majority of the staff are yet to receive their salaries since we were recruited and we don’t know what is happening with the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) offices,” one of the affected workers told SaharaReporters on condition of anonymity.

Another staff member said, “They kept telling us they would pay us next month every time and till now, a year since we were recruited, nothing has been done about our salaries.”

Also, another affected staff member of the NPC told SaharaReporters that “every month, the reason they give to us is that they are uploading our names”.

“They started paying a few of our colleagues in May this year. We don’t know the actual problem. We are seriously tired and frustrated over this issue,” the source added.

Ishaq RabiAlhazai, the Special Assistant to the Chairman of the NPC, Nasir Isa-Kwara, could not be reached on the phone for comments.

However, when contacted, Ismaila Labaran, Personal Assistant to the NPC Chairman, said that he was not in a position to speak on the matter.
