The Senate has commenced proceedings for the confirmation of Chairman the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Mr. Ola Olukoyede.

President Bola Tinubu had asked the Senate to screen and confirm Ola Olukoyede as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
He also requested the confirmation of Muhammad Hammajod as secretary of the anti-graft agency.
Tinubu’s request was contained in a letter read by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, at the plenary on Tuesday.

This was disclosed by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale in a statement last week.
There have been controversies around whether Olukoyede was eligible to head the anti-graft commission.
It was earlier reported in the week reported that human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, said Olukoyede who had served as the Chief of Staff to the former EFCC chairman and as the secretary of the commission was eminently qualified to head the anti-graft commission as he had acquired enough cognate experience to head the agency.
Falana had said there was no issue with the appointment of Olukoyede, except that the federal government must consider adherence to the provisions of the Federal Character Commission Act.
