The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the death of a security guard in his 30s, Mallam Abdullahi Ardo, who reportedly committed suicide in Bauchi State.
The spokesman for the state police command, Mahid Muazu Abubakar revealed this on Tuesday in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
According to the police spokesman, the late Ado, aged 38, was a watchman attached to Child Care Development Primary School in the state.
The police spokesman wrote: “Please SAY NO to SUICIDE and preach against it. A 38-year-old Mallam Abdullahi Ardo attached to Child Care Development Primary School as a watchman, was suspected to have committed suicide in the early hours of Monday, by hanging himself using a piece of rag on a swinging pole within the school at Tudun Wada qtrs Gombe.”
“This is a sad event, endeavor to check on your loved ones they might be facing serious problems that may affect their lives,” he added.
This comes barely 24 hours after the Nigerian Army said it rescued a woman, Mrs Francesca Spark from committing suicide in Lagos State.
The army revealed this in a press statement released by Lt. Col. Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 81 Division Nigerian Army.
Mrs Francesca was said to have been rescued after she plunged into the Lagos Lagoon around 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Marina Lagos in an attempt to commit suicide.
However, the reason for Francesca’s decision was not disclosed by the army.
