Wale Akinlotan, a police constable attached to the Lagos State Police Command, has slumped and died.

Akinlotan died while on duty at Ilupeju police division.

According to Daily Post, the police constable slumped on Monday while in the station where he served as an orderly to the Divisional Police Officer.

The constable who enrolled in the Nigeria Police Force in 2018, once served at the Lagos Police Public Relations Office, as a member of the media team.

He reportedly died while recovering from injuries sustained from a bite by a suspect.

The deceased was reportedly bitten by the suspect when he assisted in apprehending him. The suspected was trying to escape from police custody at the time.

A source told Daily Post, “In the course of capturing the suspect, he bit Wale on his shoulder, his fingers and others.”

It was reported that Wale posted videos of the injuries sustained during the incident on TikTok on October 19, saying, “Job hazard. Thank God for life, Human bite is worse than scorpion/snake venom.”

The policeman has since been buried at a cemetery in Lagos State.
