It was earlier reported that Governor Diri had 175,196 votes while Sylva has 110,108 votes after the full collation of results for Saturday’s governorship election.
The All Progressive Congress has rejected the results of the Bayelsa State Governorship election which produced Governor Douye Diri of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the candidate with the most valid votes during the Saturday poll.
SaharaReporters earlier reported that Governor Diri had 175,196 votes while Sylva has 110,108 votes after the full collation of results for Saturday’s governorship election.
In a video obtained by SaharaReporters, the APC agent was seen accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of being partial and ensuring that Governor Diri got his re-election as the state governor for the second term.
The agent who was addressing the newsmen at the state collation centre on Monday claimed INEC cancelled over 84,000 votes belonging to APC candidate to give Diri easy victory.
The agent said, “The total votes cancelled that APC scored in the field was about 84,860 votes. Add it to what APC scored here. We clearly won the election. It is clear that INEC has connived with the PDP to cancel our results here in this INEC office not at the field at the INEC office here, they decided to cancel over 84,000 votes.”
The agent revealed further that the next step of his party was to challenge the result before the tribunal because the electioneering process in the state was characterised by rigging and manipulation by the electoral body and INEC.
