Nigeria Judicial Council Recommends Appointment Of 11 Supreme Court Justices, Others

The decision was made at its 104 meeting of December 6, 2023, during which it considered the list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee.

The National Judicial Council has recommended the appointment of 11 Supreme Court Justices, one Justice of the Court of Appeal, six heads of courts and 26 other judicial officers.

The decision was made at its 104 meeting of December 6, 2023, during which it considered the list of candidates presented by its Interview Committee.

At the end of deliberations, the NJC recommended the under-listed names of successful candidates as Heads of Courts and other Judicial Officers for the Federal and State Courts in Nigeria.

They are as follows:

A statement signed by the NJC Director of Information, Soji Oye, Esq. said, “All recommended candidates to the Supreme Court Bench would be sworn in after the approval of their recommendation by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the subsequent confirmation of their appointment by the Senate.

“The various Heads of Court recommended would also be sworn in upon the approval of their appointment by their various State Governors and subsequent confirmation of same by their respective State Houses of Assembly.”
