The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, disclosed this in a signed publication obtained on Friday.
The Nigerian government has announced the reimbursement of over N135 billion to states and the Federal Capital Territory under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme.
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, disclosed this in a signed publication obtained on Friday.
Bagudu noted that the NG-CARES Programme is a $750 million World Bank-assisted Multi-Sectoral Intervention Programme.
He said, “I am pleased to announce the reimbursement of the sum of One Hundred and Thirty-Five Billion, Four Hundred and Seventy Nine Million, Eight Hundred and Eighty Four Thousand, Six Hundred and Seventy Seven Naira, and Two Kobo (N135,479,884,677.02) to States and FCT under the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme.”
“It is an Initiative of the Government of Nigeria within the framework of the Economic Sustainability Plan (ESP) and the Renew. Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. It Is a shock response mechanism put in place to support Poor and Vulnerable Individuals and Households, Small-Holder Farmers, Nano, Micro and Small Enterprises, adversely affected by COVID-I9 Pandemic and other natural and economic shocks.
“The Programme is implemented in all the 36 States and FCT under 3 Results Areas with 11 Disbursement Linked Indicators,” he added.
“The implementation of the NG-CARES Programme remains one of the cornerstones for the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President.
“Let me use this opportunity to commend the World Bank for its support and also call on State Governments, Donor Partners and Civil Society Organisations to support the Federal Government In addressing multi-dimensional Poverty, especially among poor and vulnerable Nigerians,” Bagudu added.
According to Bagudu, the total sum is N135,479,884,677.02 (N135.5 billion).
Nasarawa State received the highest amount – N13,697,828,496.96 followed by Cross River State with N10,944,747,818.84. Nothing was recorded for Imo State. Apart from Imo, Katsina State received the least amount recorded with N159,826,084.24.
