On Facebook, users were logged out of the platform with a message reading, “The password that you’ve entered is incorrect”.
Users got a message saying, “Something went wrong,” on Instagram.
“There’s an issue and the page could not be loaded.”
Meanwhile, social media users on X have been complaining about the development.
Some users of the two social platforms have been checking whether the X platform (formerly Twitter) is down equally.
However, the management (Meta) said it was looking into widespread outages of its Facebook, Instagram and Threads platforms after users were locked out of their accounts around the world.
“We’re aware people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now,” Meta spokesman Andy Stone said in a post on X.
On Facebook, users were logged out of the platform with a message that read, “The password that you’ve entered is incorrect” while on Instagram, it returned the message, “Something went wrong. There’s an issue and the page could not be loaded”.
Millions of users reported the outage on X with the hashtag #instagramdown and “Facebook and Instagram” among the top trends.
However,about one hour after the shutdown was experienced in Nigeria, Gistcore media observed that many users could again access their accounts.
