Bandits Hit Military Base In Niger State

Two soldiers were wounded in a terrorists attack on a military base in Tegina, in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Sources indicated that the bandits were heading towards Mashegu and Wushishi Local Government Areas when they carried out the assault.

Alhaji Ayuba Usman Katako, Chairman of Rafi Local Government Council, confirmed the attack to Daily Trust and reported that the injured soldiers are currently being treated at IBB Specialist Hospital in Minna. 

He appealed for prayers and support from the community, urging residents to provide useful information to aid security agencies in their efforts to combat the attackers. 

Meanwhile, the terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, also raided the villages of Gidan Tofa and Dan Nakwabo in the Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, killing at least 40 people and injuring two others. 

The attack, carried out by a large group of armed assailants on Sunday, lasted for hours. 

During the time, about 40 villagers were killed and two were wounded. Additionally, the bandits ambushed an armoured personnel carrier responding to the attack, killing four police officers and two members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps.

On Monday, Abubakar Sadiq, spokesman for the Katsina State Police Command, announced that the police were collaborating with relevant stakeholders to prevent further incidents and apprehend the perpetrators. He also mentioned the deployment of additional operational assets to the affected area.
