Imo State Assembly Speaker Suspends Four Lawmakers Over Plot To Impeach Him

The Speaker disclosed that the decision to suspend them was made during an executive session, citing an alleged plot to impeach him as the reason. 

Chike Olemgbe, the Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, on Tuesday announced the suspension of four lawmakers. 

The suspended members are Samuel Otuibe from Ahiazu-Mbaise, Henry Agbasonu representing Ezinihitte-Mbaise, Chidiebere Ogbunikpa of Okigwe, and Dominic Ezerioha from Oru-West.

The Speaker disclosed that the decision to suspend them was made during an executive session, citing an alleged plot to impeach him as the reason. 

As a consequence of their suspension, all standing committees previously chaired by these lawmakers have been retracted, he said. 

During the plenary session following the announcement, Speaker Olemgbe also undertook minor adjustments to the standing committees. 

Some of the suspended members who were present chose not to comment on the developments to journalists.
