Nigerian Police Confirm Peacefulness Of #EndBadGovernance Protests In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that the ongoing nationwide hunger protest tagged #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria which started on Thursday, August 1, is peaceful.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement issued on Thursday said that the Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, visited some areas designated by court for the protest and confirmed that “area is calm”.

The police spokesperson in the statement said, “Area is calm. The Commissioner of Police, CP Adegoke Fayoade, has visited the protest ground at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park, Ojota, Lagos and met the protesters being peaceful. 

“He equally checked Alausa, Lekki toll gate and other parts of the state and found them peaceful too. Non-protesting Lagosians have also been going about their lawful duties without harassment or intimidation. 

“Monitoring is ongoing. Your safety and security remain our priority. Area is indeed calm!”
