Fire Guts Lagos Government Staff Quarters At Ogba

It was learnt that the fire outbreak started in part of a three-storey building at the staff quarters around 2.20 am on Friday.

There was a fire outbreak at the Lagos State Government Staff Quarters located at Odunsanmi Street, off WEMPCO Road, Ogba area of the state. 

It was learnt that the fire outbreak started in part of a three-storey building at the staff quarters around 2.20 am on Friday.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA Public Affairs Unit, Nosa Okunbor in a statement stated that the fire originated from an electrical surge in the children’s room.

He added that properties worth millions of naira were destroyed. 

The statement reads in part, “The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, received distress calls via the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 0239hrs. 

“The Agency activated its Response Team from the Command and Control Centre, Alausa.

“Upon immediate response, it was confirmed that one of the two bedrooms in Flat 5, of Block 21, a two-winged, three-story building of 16 two-bedroom flats, was engulfed in fire.

“A thorough investigation conducted by the Agency’s LRT unveiled that the fire originated from an electrical surge in the children’s room. 

“The prompt and coordinated efforts of the Agency’s LRT, NPF, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, ensured the fire was contained and extinguished quickly.”

“The fire completely consumed the children’s bedroom, resulting in loss of properties worth millions of naira,” the statement added.
