Governor Siminialayi Fubara of Rivers State has suspended Otonye Briggs, the chairman of the caretaker committee for Akuku-Toru Local Government Area (LGA), with immediate effect.

The announcement came through a statement released on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi.

In the statement, Governor Fubara ordered Briggs to relinquish every council property in his possession and hand it over to his successor, Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, who will assume the role of caretaker committee chairman for the LGA.

However, no specific reason for the suspension was provided in the official release.

Briggs was appointed in June alongside 22 other local government council caretaker committee chairpersons.
