The Edo State Governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, is currently meeting with President Bola Tinubu, at the State House in Abuja.

It was learnt that the visit was to appreciate the president and the party leaders over the success of the APC in the last elections though the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party rejected the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The APC governors in attendance at Okpebholo’s visit to President Tinubu include Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state who is the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF); Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state; Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna state; Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi state, and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state.
Also at the meeting is the former Governor of Edo state and the Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole and the reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo state, Comrade Philip Shaibu.
Okpebholo’s visit to President Tinubu comes a few hours after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented Certificate of Return to him and his Deputy, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, at its headquarters.
Media had earlier reported that Dignitaries in attendance when INEC presented the Certificate of Return to Okpebholo included the APC National Chairman, Ganduje, National Working Committee members, and Shaibu.
On Sunday, INEC declared Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the governorship election held on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
The electoral commission declared that Okpebholo received a total of 291,667 votes to defeat his closest contender, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored a total 247,274 votes.
