Many Pupils Sit On Bare Floor As Three Classes Share Single Block In Dilapidated Oyo Govt School

A single block of classrooms at the IDC Primary School, Old Ife Road, Egbeda Local Government Area, Ibadan, Oyo State, is currently being used to accommodate three classes, highlighting the deplorable state of primary education in the state. 

According to Kayode Babayomi, the African Action Congress (AAC) party chairman in Oyo State, in a tweet via his official X handle, the pupils from primary 1, 2, and 3 are crammed into the same space, sitting on the bare floor due to a lack of chairs. 

The classroom also has no roof, doors, or windows, leaving the children exposed to rain and harsh sunlight, according to photographs seen by SaharaReporters. 

“It’s good to celebrate the teachers on a good day like this, but what are the situations in their classrooms?” Babayomi queried the Governor Seyi Makinde-led state government.

The deteriorating conditions highlight the challenges faced by the school, as the pupils struggle to learn under severe constraints.

He added, “It’s good to celebrate the teachers on a good day like this , but what are the situations in their classrooms? 

“This is IDC, Primary School, Old Ife Road, Ibadan, Egbeda local government Area, Oyo State where a block of classrooms is used for 3 classes, primary 1 will back primary two and all.”
