Abducted victims in Katsina State’s Dandume Local Government Area have made a desperate plea for help in a newly released video by their captors.
One of the victims, who sustained a gunshot wound, pleaded for medical assistance as his condition deteriorates.
The video, posted online by one Bakatsine, shows the injured man alongside two other captives, including a minor.
The injured victim, visibly in distress, appealed for urgent medical aid, showing a severe injury to his arm.
He said, “Please, come to our rescue, as you can see the situation we are in. Look at the injury I sustained; please, help me.
“Please come and treat me. I need urgent medical assistance because this injury is worsening, and the wound is getting deeper.”
He added that the injured area on his arm had started to emit an odour.
“Please come and rescue me. I was shot while lying down by the bandits, and some of my friends who were with me have been killed.”
“Please come and rescue us, and provide us with medical treatment,” he pleaded.
However, the situation in the Dandume Local Government Area for years remains tense as reports indicate that many villages in the area are under the control of bandits, severely disrupting local livelihoods.
Farming, the primary source of income for residents, has been crippled by the violence.
Efforts by the media to contact the Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls or respond to messages sent to him.
