Northerners are voicing frustrations over a prolonged week-long blackout, expressing concerns about Tinubu’s lack of response to the ongoing power outage affecting the region.

The Arewa People’s Congress, through its official X page known as Arewa Connect, criticized the actions of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), stating, “Most of those who recently headed TCN and the power sector were Northerners; they destroyed and squandered almost all the funds meant to upgrade facilities that would deliver power to the North.” The statement concluded, “Obviously, Northerners are the enemies of the North.”

Reacting to the development, Aminu Kyari said, “As the Founder of Arewa Entrepreneurship Frontier Network, I stand firmly with our community in addressing the severe electricity outages plaguing Northern Nigeria. Our latest statement calls on FG to take swift action to restore power and support our struggling SMEs.”

According to a post on X by @ArewaTwitter, it said I can swear with my life Tinubu never like Northerners. He never believed in ‘One Nigeria’ as he publicly stated it. He didn’t remove Minister of Power deliberately because of his agenda. He purposely ignored all the hardships because he knew northerners are the victims of it.

While justifying Muhammad Buhari’s reign, they said, “No matter how much you will insult Buhari. You won’t deny the fact that electricity was stable.”

@ArewaTwitter further said, “Only God knows the numbers of people that lost their lives in the hospital due to this blackout in the North..”

@KensonOfficial said “It affected many hospitals, including their drugs that require refrigeration. It’s quite unfortunate that our politicians don’t care”

@jrnaib2 said “Bola Tinubu won’t allow Lagos/Southwest to go without electricity for weeks. He just doesn’t rate Northerners!”

@ndanusa_bb said “The sooner you realize that these politicians don’t care about the people they govern, the better. For them, it’s all about personal interests. They’re heartless and cruel, which is why I get so frustrated with those doing cheap PR for them.”

@SkinnyBoi001_ said, “It’s quite unfortunate that TCN is advising the people affected by the power outage to shut their electrical appliances till power is fully restored. It shows that they’re incapable of fixing it smoothly with the right amount of voltage. It shows incompetency.”

@musa_arewa said, “There has been no electricity in most parts of the North for several days now, and it is impacting both people and operations. Particularly boarding secondary schools that rely on a power to get water.”

@dannielpelo said, “It is left to be seen of the rating the North will give him in 2027 bearing in mind that the North gave him the votes in 2023. Will the Muslim/Muslim narrative sell again in the North in 2027? He questioned Nothing that Good governance has nothing to do with religion.”

@AbdulRasheedDM1 said “I didn’t expect him to care much about Northern issues. He is a Nigerian like anyone of us and each Nigerian selfishly cares about his region and his tribe.”

“The question here is, did Northern leaders did anything to improve the life of common Northerners during Buhari’s 8 years? AbdulRasheedDM1 asked.

@HauwaAllahbura said “No light to charge phone. I cannot tweet as much. We are saving our battery. To all the Nothern leaders who have failed us, we are coming for you… I shall decide on who to drag, and we will collectively drag you! It is your nonsensical behavior that has made Adelabu carefree.”

However, @HauwaAllahbura further said “Adelabu be very warned!!!! Give us light now, or we will show you what pepper looks like! Our mothers have heat rashes. We cannot continue like this!!! We cannot praise you for power and run to discos for darkness.”

@Akinyemi_mayana said “Minister Adelabu please restore power to Arewa part of the country, our people are in darkness for over a week.”
