Man Arraigned For Killing Teenager In Enugu, Burying Him In Shallow Grave

According to reports, Joshua lured Ibrahim under the pretense of selling a scrap motor vehicle propeller, then robbed him of N100,000, strangled him, and buried his body in a shallow grave on October 2, 2024. 

Tsehemba Joshua, a 30-year-old man, has been arraigned by the Enugu State Police Command for allegedly robbing and murdering 19-year-old Yusuf Ibrahim, a scrap scavenger. 

Joshua is accused of conspiring with two accomplices, who are still on the run, to rob and strangle Ibrahim. 

After his court appearance, on Monday, Joshua was remanded at the Enugu Correctional Custodial Centre.

According to reports, Joshua lured Ibrahim under the pretense of selling a scrap motor vehicle propeller, then robbed him of N100,000, strangled him, and buried his body in a shallow grave on October 2, 2024. 

The police were alerted to the crime after a community tip-off about the shallow grave discovered in a bush at Ojo River in Ogbodu-Aba, Obollo Community, Udenu local government area of Enugu State.

The Enugu State Police Command’s spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, confirmed Joshua’s arrest and arraignment. The case is still ongoing, with Joshua’s accomplices still at large.

Ndukwe in a statement said, the suspect confessed to luring the victim under the pretense of selling a scrap motor vehicle propeller before robbing him of N100,000, strangling him, and burying his body in a shallow grave on October 2, 2024.

“After a thorough investigation of the case by the Campus Monitoring/Anti-Cultism Section of the State CID Enugu, the suspect was arraigned and subsequently remanded, pending further court proceedings.”
