The management of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said it has commenced a proper investigation into the case of assault against a female corps member at the Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, Kwara State.
The femake corps member had earlier accused some staff of the Government Day Junior Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin, Kwara State, of beating and assaulting her.
Gistcore had reported that the incident occurred when the corps member visited the school to collect her clearance letter on Thursday.
The media could not yet get the name of the assaulted female corps member but one of the teachers had accused her of “not greeting properly.”
“A teacher said she did not greet well and that was how it all started. The teacher beat her and tore her clothes,” the source said.
The event had sparked concerns about the safety and well-being of corps members stationed in the state.
When contacted, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, Carol Lembu, had said that the incident was currently being resolved.
”It is being addressed accordingly. Thank you,” she had told the media on Friday morning.
In a separate update on Friday afternoon, mentioned that there is a plan to transfer the assaulted corps member from the school.
She said, “The issue has been reported to the appropriate government agency and investigation is underway. In the meantime, the corps member will be reposted out of the school for her safety.”
