The personnel called on President Bola Tinubu to order an investigation into the issue in order to know why the allowances had not been paid even though the funds for its payment had been released.
Some personnel of the Nigeria Prisons Service, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) have lamented the alleged nonpayment of their promotion arrears as well as failure by the government to place the promoted workers on their new salary scale.
The personnel called on President Bola Tinubu to order an investigation into the issue in order to know why the allowances had not been paid even though the funds for its payment had been released.
According to them, those promoted had not been paid their promotion arrears while those working in the Federal Fire Service and others agencies under the same Ministry of Interior had been placed on their next levels and paid their allowances.
“We, the officers of the Nigeria Correctional service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and Nigeria Immigration Services are seriously complaining of inhumane treatments by the Nigerian government through the Accountant-General of the Federation.
“While the staff of fire service in the same Ministry of Interior are collecting all allowances due to them, the officers of others agencies like NCOS, NSCDC and NIS are left alone,” one of the personnel said.
Another officer added, “While two months rent arrears (January- February, 2024) were paid to Fire Service personnel in March, other agencies under the same ministry are yet to receive theirs till today.
“2023, 2024 promotion new salary scales are yet to be implemented not talk of promotion arrears.”
Another officer kicked over alleged deduction of their salaries by the Integrated Payroll and Personnel information system (IPPIS).
He said, “With the present hardship in the country, officers of these three agencies are suffering as they don’t even know their monthly salaries as a result of heavy deduction from our monthly salaries by IPPIS.
“While other paramilitary agencies received three months of 25 percent increase in salaries by federal government (January – March) in October, 25 percent salary increment by officers of NCOS, NSCDC AND NIS is yet to be implemented.
“We are using the medium to call on President Bola Tinubu to investigate all these before everything gets out of hands as the welfare of officers in these three agencies is getting worst.”
