Popular Isoko musician, Dr. Arube Otor, also known as Isoko Fela, is set to tie the knot with three of his wives in a grand ceremony tomorrow in Uzere, Delta State.

The 53-year-old musician, who already has nine children, is determined to have 32 children and provide them with university education.

Otor was born into a polygamous home and has always been comfortable with the idea of having multiple wives. Otor said that he decided to hold the marriage reception for his three wives on the same day to save costs.

In a chat with Saturday Vanguard, Otor said, “I had two wives before, but one walked out of the marriage. So, I was left with one wife until now that I am adding these three. I will be holding the marriage reception this Sunday, making them four wives. Mind you, I still have two other women that will soon join my list of wives, bringing them to six. I want to have 32 children and until I realize that dream, I won’t leave this earth.

“I was born into a polygamous home. My father had four wives. Growing up, we related very well and we also bonded with the various mothers. So, polygamy was never a problem in our home and we still maintain a healthy relationship among ourselves. All my children go to school, not one of them is in my band yet. I want all of them to be university graduates. I also want my first son to join the military.

Narrating how he resolves disputes among his wives, Otor said he ensures that they live in peace and love themselves. “I make sure my wives don’t fight among themselves. If they have any problem among themselves they report to me and I settle it. If it’s an issue between two of them, I would call the others to be there to witness how I settle the dispute so that they will also learn.

“My wives are doing their business. I don’t allow them to play music with me. My first wife is a hairdresser, the second one is a caterer, while the third one is a trader. The junior one now is also a hairdresser. I also have two concubines, whom I plan to marry soon.”

Asked if, at 53, he has the strength to go round the women without anyone feeling neglected or under utilized in the home, Otor assured that he has the strength and energy to satisfy all his wives without anyone feeling neglected or underutilized. Otor attributed his energy and vitality to his natural diet, which excludes rice and aphrodisiacs.

“I am equal to the task, I don’t eat rice and I also don’t use aphrodisiac or sex enhancement drugs. I depend on our natural food to keep me fit and ever ready for my conjugal duty as a husband to my wives. My wives will tell you that I visit them every week. I avoid rice because it weakens a man”, he said.

According to him, “I chose to organize the marriage reception for my three wives the same day to save cost and I want the world to hear my name. Members of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria will be in attendance. They will take charge of the music. Logistics for refreshment have been finalized. It will be a big day. I have already paid their bride prices. And we have been living together since then. So, what’s happening that day is the reception ceremony. We have even shared ‘asoebi’ clothes to all my children.”

Isoko Fela, as he is fondly called by his fans in Isoko because of his genre of Isoko highlife, believes that music can be a powerful instrument for promoting peace and unity in society.

According to him, “They call me Isoko Fela because I use my songs in Isoko language to attack oppressors in Isoko nation, those who don’t want the good of the nation, those who steal our common wealth”. On why he has ‘Dr’ as a prefix to his name, the singer said it’s part of his stage name, explaining that he only had primary six education. Otor, however, emphasized the importance of education for his children, stating that he wants all of them to be university graduates.
