The terrorists surrendered on January 19 to troops of Operation Hadarin Daji under the North West theatre of operations, following intensified military offensives in the region.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced the ‘surrender’ of two notorious terrorists, Abu Radde and Umar Black, who have been operating in Katsina State’s Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas.
The terrorists surrendered on January 19 to troops of Operation Hadarin Daji under the North West theatre of operations, following intensified military offensives in the region.
Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday.
He attributed the surrender to the ongoing synchronised operations involving ground and air troops, which have successfully dismantled terrorist enclaves and inflicted significant casualties.
“These operations have not only forced several terrorists to surrender but also ensured the recovery of assorted weapons and ammunition,” Buba said.
He added that the troops had also secured the release of 15 hostages previously held by the terrorists.
“Troops are nevertheless sustaining the momentum as they continue the hunt for notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji, among others.
“On the whole, troops will continue to eliminate threats posed by terrorists and destroy them on the battlefield,” he said.
Buba stated that the terrorists have only two options: surrender or face being buried on the battlefield.
He added that troops are intensifying operations to ensure conditions are created that prevent terrorists from carrying out attacks against civilians.
