A group of terrorists have kidnapped a former Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Major General Mahrazu Tsiga (retired), along with two other residents in Katsina State.
It was reported that the armed terrorists invaded the former DG’s hometown, Tsiga, in Kankara Local Government Area on Wednesday night.
The bandits went directly to General Mahrazu’s residence and abducted him along with two others.
A conflict and crisis journalist in the Northwest zone, Bakatsine confirmed the incident, saying, “Yesterday night, bandits attacked Tsiga town and they succeeded in abducting three people including former Director General NYSC, Brig. Gen. Maharazu Tsiga.”
A popular X user based in the north, @northern_trends, also tweeted about the abduction.
He wrote: “BREAKING: Retired General Abducted In Katsina Major-General Maharazu Tsiga (rtd) has been reportedly abducted in Tsiga village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.”
When contacted, Katsina State Police Command spokesperson DSP Aliyu Abubakar told SaharaReporters that he had yet to be briefed about the incident.
“I am yet to be briefed on the facts of the reports. I’ll get back to you as soon as I get the details, please,” he said on Thursday morning.
In January, some terrorists attacked a General Hospital in the same Kankara local government area.
The media gathered the terrorists shot Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire, a medical doctor on duty during the attack, and kidnapped no fewer than five people at the hospital.
This was stated by a source, Bakatsine, while sharing the picture of the attacked doctor on his popular X page.
Bakatsine wrote: “Yesterday night, bandits stormed Kankara General Hospital in Ƙankara LGA of Katsina State, they shot Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire and abducted five people in the hospital.
“There is a need to improve security in the hospitals across Katsina State. Within the past three months, bandits have reportedly entered three hospitals: Kurfi General Hospital, Mai Tsani Hospital in Dutsin-ma LGA and Kankara General Hospital.”
“Dr. Murtala Saleh Dandashire, an indigene Kankara LGA, is the best graduating Medical student of the year 2019, from the Medical School of the prestigious ABU Zaria,” he added.
