Asuspected armed robber, identified as Saidu Sinah, also known as Ojubintin, died after being lynched by an angry mob at AP/Akerele Junction in Agege, Lagos State.

Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stated on Monday that a distress call was received at the Isokoko Division on March 15, 2025, at around 6:30 a.m., reporting that an armed robbery suspect had been apprehended and was being beaten by a mob.
Hundeyin said police officers were immediately dispatched to the scene, but the crowd scattered upon their arrival.
The suspect, found in critical condition, was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
He said, “On March 15, 2025, at about 06:30 hours, a distress call was received at Isokoko Division regarding a suspected armed robber who specialized in snatching mobile phones from commuters.
“The suspect had been apprehended, severely beaten, and was on the verge of being lynched by an angry mob at AP/Akerele Junction, Agege.
“Upon receiving the report, teams of policemen were swiftly mobilized to the scene. On sighting the police, the mob fled. The suspect, later identified as Saidu Sinah ‘M’, a.k.a. Ojubintin, was found with severe injuries. He was immediately rescued and rushed to the hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased, along with his accomplices—who are currently at large—allegedly stabbed a middle-aged woman and dispossessed her of her phone at the aforementioned location. The woman was promptly taken to the hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment.
“The hospital where the injured victim was taken has been visited, and the victim has been inspected and photographed. The corpse of the deceased has been evacuated to a public morgue by the Lagos State Health and Monitoring Unit.”
“Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other members of the gang and individuals who participated in the act of jungle justice. Investigation is in progress,” he said.
