The Delta State College of Nursing Sciences, Agbor, has issued a formal query to one of its students, Nurse Osato Edobor, following her alleged involvement in a viral TikTok video that mocked Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The incident, which has sparked widespread controversy, occurred during the First Lady’s official visit to Delta State, and the college has warned of potential disciplinary action, including possible expulsion.
According to the query letter dated March 27, 2025, signed by the Provost, Evbodaghe Rita Ogonne, the incident took place on March 25, 2025, during an event at the Dome Event Center in Asaba. The event was part of the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme, where Senator Tinubu distributed 10,000 professional kits, including crocs and scrubs, to health midwives across the South-South geopolitical zone. The letter accused Edobor of engaging in a “malicious act” by recording and posting a video on TikTok, which featured her singing a song deemed offensive upon the First Lady’s arrival.
The college described the act as a punishable offense under its student handbook, specifically citing section No. 8 on page 21, which addresses standard disciplinary actions for such misconduct. Edobor has been given 24 hours from the receipt of the letter to provide a written explanation in triplicate, justifying why disciplinary measures should not be taken against her.
Gistcore had earlier reported that Students at the Delta State School of Nursing have been seen in a video, chorusing a song to reject President Bola Tinubu’s wife, Oluremi, as “our mother.”

The Master of Ceremony had called Oluremi Tinubu “everyone’s mother,” in apparent reference to her “being the mother of the nation.”
The students, however, rejected this title.
While the Master of Ceremony said, “Na our mama be this” (translated as “this is our mother”), the students responded, “Na your mama be this” (translated as “this is your mother”).
First Ladies are usually referred to as the “mother of the nation.” Although it is unclear why the students rejected this label, Nigerians have lamented the harsh living conditions under the administration of Bola Tinubu, citing issues ranging from high costs of living to insecurity.
