It was learnt that the Brigade under Brig Gen Matthew Oyekola carried out the operations in the hideouts in cooperation with the local vigilantes and the Man-O-War officers.
Men of the 9 Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA), Ikeja, have raided some criminal hideouts in the Oshodi and Mushin areas of Lagos State, in a bid to rid the places of violence.
It was learnt that the Brigade under Brig Gen Matthew Oyekola carried out the operations in the hideouts in cooperation with the local vigilantes and the Man-O-War officers.
Earlier, Brig Gen Oyekola was at the Lagos State House of Assembly in September 2024, where the army echelon had pledged to ensure that the state was rid of all criminal elements disturbing the law abiding residents.
“The army has been raiding the miscreants in Oshodi and Mushin. These are the hoodlums who spoke hemp and hide under bridges. They are smokers and gamblers in daytime and armed robbers at night. The Brigade recently raided a number of them and handed them over to the appropriate authorities for prosecution,” an officer disclosed.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, the army brigade donated an operational vehicle to Man-O-War Nigeria, Lagos State Command.
During the handing over of the vehicle to the Man-O-War Lagos Command, Brigadier General Oyekola said he found it expedient to refurbish one of the long time abandoned OP MESA vehicles for the organisation to encourage their information gathering and sharing capacity in support of the brigade operations in the Lagos State.
The Commander 9 Brigade said that he hoped the vehicle would enhance the operations of Man-O-War in Lagos State to be swift and more responsive to calls from the brigade when called upon for actionable information.
In his response, the Man-O-War Commander, Lagos State Command, Engineer Lucky Onimowo, pleged that the command would put the vehicle into effective use to provide intelligence to 9 Brigade for its operations in Lagos State.
