Achimugu arrived in court at about 11:35 am on Wednesday, accompanied by two female officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Achimugu, within 24 hours.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who issued the order on Wednesday, also directed all parties to appear before the court on May 2 to report on the outcome of the directive.
Achimugu arrived in court at about 11:35 am on Wednesday, accompanied by two female officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The judge had earlier instructed Achimugu to present herself to the EFCC over an ongoing investigation involving allegations of money laundering and other related offences.
Following her compliance, Justice Ekwo ordered the anti-graft agency to return to court with her on Wednesday, April 30, for a formal report.
Achimugu was arrested at about 5am on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The EFCC is investigating her for alleged conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence, money laundering, corruption, and possession of properties reasonably suspected to have been unlawfully obtained.
Though she was earlier released on administrative bail, the EFCC claimed she jumped bail and subsequently declared her wanted.
SaharaReporters had reported on Monday that the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered Aisha to honour the invitation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, 29 April 2025, over an ongoing investigation.
Justice I.E. Ekwo further directed that she must appear before the court on Wednesday, 30 April 2025.
The order was made in a ruling delivered on Monday, 28 April 2025, in respect of a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/626/2025, filed by Achimugu against several law enforcement agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), the Department of State Services (DSS), the EFCC, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Aisha is the wife of the late Suleiman Achimugu, who served as Managing Director of PPMC and was Nigeria’s first recorded COVID-19 fatality in March 2020, is a businesswoman and the Chief Executive Officer of Felak Concept Group.
She is also known to be an ally of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
