UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer to adopt her party’s proposed deportation bill as a bold measure to tackle immigration.
In a video posted on her X (formerly Twitter) account, Badenoch warned that up to two million immigrants could automatically qualify for British citizenship by next year. “That’s nearly twice the population of Birmingham,” she said, urging immediate action.
“We’ve introduced a deportation bill because we are committed to bringing immigration down,” she stated.
The bill, published earlier this week, proposes sweeping changes including the automatic deportation of all foreign criminals, mandatory age checks for migrants, stricter visa regulations, and the removal of human rights protections in immigration cases. It would also make asylum support repayable and deny permanent residency to individuals who rely on state benefits.
“Until that’s law, we won’t fix it,” Badenoch said. “Labour should adopt it now. It’s time to get tough. That’s what the Conservatives’ deportation bill delivers. Our country is a home, not a hotel.”
The push marks a sharp contrast with the current Labour-led government’s immigration stance, as the Tories continue to pressure for tougher border and deportation policies.
