Governors and traditional rulers from Nigeria’s northern states converged on Kaduna State on Saturday for a high-level meeting aimed at addressing the mounting challenges facing the region, including persistent insecurity, poverty, and the growing number of out-of-school children.
The meeting, held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, is being chaired by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya.
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, served as the chief host and delivered the opening address.
Governors from Zamfara, Kebbi, Gombe, Niger, and other states were in attendance, alongside an influential gathering of traditional leaders.
These include the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar; Emir of Zazzau, Ahmed Bamalli; Etsu Nupe; Emir of Zamfara; and the Emirs of Bauchi, Katsina, Ilorin, and Keffi, among others.
Deliberations are expected to focus on security coordination, education reform, and long-term socioeconomic development strategies for the North.
The meeting underscores the urgency of regional cooperation in confronting deep-rooted challenges and restoring stability and prosperity across northern Nigeria.
