Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade, in coordination with Operation SAFE HAVEN, have successfully recovered approximately 1,000 rustled cattle following a rapid military intervention in Taraba State.
The operation, codenamed OPERATION LAFIYA JAMAA, was initiated after intelligence reports indicated that armed bandits—riding in on around 30 motorcycles—had attacked a Fulani settlement near Jebjeb Village in Karim Lamido Local Government Area.
Acting swiftly, troops intercepted the criminals near Komodoro Village, leading to an intense firefight, according to Captain Oni Olubodunde, spokesperson for the brigade.
Olubodunde said two bandits were neutralised, while the rest fled into the Daji Madam Forest along the Plateau-Taraba border.
The brigade added that the stolen cattle were safely recovered and returned to the Jebjeb community, adding that Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the swift response and seamless coordination between forces.
He reaffirmed the Army’s unwavering commitment to eliminating criminal elements and urged residents to continue supporting security efforts by providing timely and credible information.
Plans are currently in place to verify and ensure the rightful owners reclaim their cattle.
