Akwa Ibom Governor Umo Eno is at the center of a growing storm after his daughter, Jane Edidiong Ufot, publicly, accused him of sacrificing her late mother and threatening her life and that of her daughter.
In the video circulating widely on social media, Mrs. Ufot, who serves as a senior special adviser in her father’s administration, directly alleged that her mother, Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, who passed away in September 2024, was sacrificed. She warned that she would not suffer the same fate. “I’m not a sacrifice, mummy was, but I’m not,” she declared during the emotional recording.
The video also featured a dramatic moment in which Mrs. Ufot instructed her young daughter to question the governor during what appeared to be a video call. “So, Grandpa, do you want them to kill us?” the child asked. “Do you want them to die like my baby brother died?”
The identity of the “them” the child referred to remains unclear, and there was no audible response from Governor Eno in the clip.
Mrs. Ufot further revealed that her life was in danger, claiming that certain truths were beginning to emerge. She said that if anything should happen to her or her daughter, the responsibility would lie with those trying to silence her.
“If I die today or my daughter dies. If we die because God is exposing the truth, so be it. But my blood will not go scot-free,” she cried out.
Efforts to reach the governor’s office for a response were unsuccessful as calls to his media aide, Ekerete Udoh, did not go through. There has been no official reaction from the Akwa Ibom State Government as of the time of this report.
Patience Oluwakemi Umo Eno, the late first lady, passed away from an undisclosed illness less than a year ago, leaving behind a grieving family.
