Former Governor of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, made a striking statement during the unveiling ceremony of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Port Harcourt. Addressing the gathering, Amaechi highlighted concerns over electoral integrity and the potential consequences of continued governance under the current administration.
Amaechi remarked, “Our state is notorious for writing results,” pointing to a perceived issue with electoral processes in Rivers State. He further expressed his apprehension about the future, stating, “Nigerians are complaining in Tinubu’s first tenure, in second tenure, you’ll be dead and buried.” This comment was reiterated as he warned, “Those who are complaining now, in the second tenure, you’ll be dead and buried.”
The ceremony, which took place at a significant political event, saw Amaechi positioning himself as a key figure within the ADC, a party that has recently gained prominence with the inclusion of major opposition leaders. His statements reflect a broader critique of the current political landscape and a call for change, aligning with the ADC’s mission to challenge the status quo and prevent Nigeria from becoming a one-party state, as articulated by interim chairman David Mark during the coalition’s unveiling on July 2.
