A terrorist operating in Kwara State has taken over the TikTok account of one of his abducted victims and is now using it to post videos from their forest hideout brazenly.
The victim, a popular Point of Sale (POS) agent known as Yman, was abducted in late June 2025 along with others in separate incidents across communities in Kwara North.
The media gathered that since then, his abductors have been making ransom demands and sending disturbing updates to family members through his WhatsApp account.
But in a new development that exposes both the boldness of the criminals and the glaring failure of Nigeria’s security architecture, one of the terrorists has now gained access to Yman’s TikTok account and uploaded at least seven different videos showing his face and their getaway motorcycle.
“He has been using Yman’s phone number to call us,” a family member told SaharaReporters.
“He even used the WhatsApp line to send us a video of Yman crying and begging for help due to hunger and torture. Now, they’ve hijacked his TikTok account and the kidnapper is confidently uploading videos from their hideout,” the family source added.
Checks by on Monday confirmed that the videos, some of which show the kidnapper smiling into the camera, have already garnered over 10,000 views in less than 24 hours.
The footage also appears to show part of the forest terrain and a motorcycle believed to be used during their operations.
“The bandit is not even covering his face,” the family source added.
“He is doing this because he knows the Nigerian Government and security operatives cannot track him. This country is finished.”
The videos have sparked outrage and concern online, with many Nigerians questioning how a criminal could openly operate a social media account linked to an abductee’s phone number without being traced or apprehended.
Meanwhile, security agencies in the state have yet to issue any official statement on the incident or the current status of the abductees.
In a related development, in August 2024, the media reported on a viral TikTok video in which a terrorist made a strange request, asking Nigerians to share their bank account details as a gesture of appreciation for those who praised their leader, Mohammed Bello Turji Kachalla, during nationwide protests against economic hardship.
The terrorist claimed that their group was grateful and pleased that their leader was referred to as a ‘hero’ by some individuals from the northern region.
He said, “May the peace and blessings be with you all Nigerians. Protesters, we heard you guys are praising Mohammed Bello Turji.
“We are grateful, we are grateful to you, may you achieve success. Bello Turji is greeting. Send your account details; Bello Turji wants to do something for you people.”
The media noted that numerous individuals surprisingly complied with the terrorist’s request, sharing their bank account details in the comment section of the viral video.
However, the media was unable to confirm whether the terrorist followed through on his promise.
