Properties worth millions of naira were destroyed on Thursday when fire engulfed six shops in the Ile-Ewe, Sawmill area of Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan, the Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Services Agency, Mr. Maroof Akinwande, said the agency received a distress call at exactly 2:08 p.m. from one Mr. David Ajagbe.
He said firefighters, led by CFS Dairo, responded swiftly and arrived at the scene in good time to contain the inferno.
“On getting to the scene, we met six out of 10 locked up shops well alight and quickly engaged our appliance and we were able to curtail the fire from spreading to other shops and nearby properties,” the chairman said.
“Properties worth millions of Naira were affected by the fire and fire service was able to save millions of properties.”
He added that no casualties were recorded and that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
