Confusion has erupted at the Ganye Constituency by-election in Adamawa State as angry youths surrounded the SUV of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the North-East Zone, Mustapha Salihu, accusing him of attempting to rig the exercise.
The irate youths, chanting “election rigger”, insisted that the vehicle be thoroughly searched, alleging that sensitive electoral materials, including ballot boxes and BVAS devices, were hidden inside.

The electoral materials were immediately retrieved and taken to a nearby police station on the orders of the Assistant Inspector General of Police on election duty, Taiwo Adeleke.
The incident occurred at the Ganye Old Market Unit 001, which hosts two polling stations.
The recovered materials are now in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force.
It was earlier reported that the polls had already been tainted by widespread vote-buying allegedly perpetrated by both APC and PDP agents.
Meanwhile, heavily armed policemen have formed a cordon around Salihu’s vehicle and are dispersing the protesters to clear the way for him to leave the scene.
