Nigerian celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has been seen in a circulating video preparing a test batch of jollof rice in a massive custom-built pot.
The footage, which shows her surrounded by helpers and spectators, is part of her preparations for a record-breaking attempt to cook the world’s largest pot of jollof rice.
PUNCH Online on Saturday came across the video, which has been widely shared ahead of the official event scheduled for September 12, 2025, at Muri Okunola Park in Lagos.
Baci is set to make the official attempt on September 12, 2025, during the Gino World Jollof Festival, an event celebrating West African food, music, and culture.
Attendance will be free, with live performances planned to mark the occasion.
Baci, who gained international fame after her 2023 Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon, described the project as more than a record attempt.
In a recent Instagram post, she wrote, “Six metres wide. Six metres tall. On September 12, we make history together. Because what is jollof without you to share it with?”
