26 Days After Defecting ADC, Ex-Atiku Youth DG Rowland Returns To PDP, Tender Apology

In the letter, the politician admitted that leaving the PDP was a “grave mistake,” noting that the party had been his political home for over two decades.

Exactly 26 days after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), youth advocate Comrade Odih Rowland has made a dramatic reversal, returning to the PDP and issuing a public apology to its leadership.

Rowland, former director-general of the Atiku Youth Wing Campaign Organisation, who had on August 1, 2025, formally joined the ADC in what he described then as a move for “political realignment,” wrote a letter on Thursday, August 27, 2025, titled “My Sincere Apologies” addressed to the PDP leadership.

In the letter, the politician admitted that leaving the PDP was a “grave mistake,” noting that the party had been his political home for over two decades.

“I am writing to express my sincerest apologies for my recent decision to decamp from PDP to ADC on August 1, 2025. I realize now that I made a grave mistake by leaving the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), a party that has nurtured my political career for 24 years,” he wrote.

Rowland praised the PDP for what he described as its “values of truth, justice, and internal democracy” as well as its ability to resolve internal crises. According to him, the leadership of the party’s National Chairman has further convinced him that the PDP remains the only viable platform to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections.

“I am particularly impressed by the leadership of our National Chairman, which demonstrates PDP’s capacity to win the 2027 elections. I firmly believe my impact will be more significant in PDP than in any other party,” he stated.

The grassroots mobiliser added that after consultations with leaders of his ward, local government, state, and the national leadership of the PDP, he had resolved to return to the party with his supporters.

“Following the urging of my ward, local government, state, and national leaders, I have decided to return to PDP with my supporters. I pledge to work tirelessly for the party’s victory in 2027,” he affirmed.

Meanwhile, the PDP welcomed Rowland back into the party on Thursday. He was received at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja after a brief departure.
