The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned Malam Bolaji Abdullahi against parading himself as the party’s National Publicity Secretary and spokesperson.
In a statement issued Thursday by Dr. Christopher O. Okechukwu, Director of Media and Public Affairs in the Office of the National Chairman, the party described Abdullahi’s claims as “misleading, unauthorized, and a violation of established party protocols.”
According to the ADC, the position of National Publicity Secretary can only be occupied by a registered and active member of the party who has gone through the nomination process and been duly elected at the party’s National Convention.
“It is clear that Malam Bolaji Abdullahi does not meet the necessary requirements to serve as the Publicity Secretary and Spokesperson of the ADC,” the statement read. “His continued self-identification in this capacity undermines the credibility of our party. We urge him to desist immediately from using the ADC’s name and title without authorization.”
The party also urged media organizations to exercise caution by refraining from recognizing Abdullahi as its spokesperson, stressing that only duly authorized officers are mandated to speak for the ADC.
“The ADC is committed to preserving the integrity and credibility of its representation,” the statement added. “We appreciate the cooperation of the media in ensuring accuracy and accountability in political reporting.”
