Many Escape Death as Truck Crashes into Vehicles in Lagos

Several persons sustained injuries on Thursday after a truck rammed into multiple vehicles at the Berger Bridge T-Junction in Epe, Lagos State.

The truck, which reportedly suffered brake failure, lost control and crashed into a tricycle (keke napep) and four cars waiting at the junction, leaving them badly damaged.

An eyewitness, Mr. Ademola, said the driver shouted about the brake failure moments before the collision. “Before we knew it, the truck had already crashed into the tricycle and several cars. People were screaming and running everywhere,” he recounted.

Another commuter, Mrs. Kehinde, described the incident as horrifying. “The tricycle was badly crushed, and several people were injured. Thank God no life was lost,” she said.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), and local security operatives swiftly arrived at the scene to rescue victims and restore order.

Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost, though many of the victims sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.

The accident, however, caused heavy traffic gridlock, leaving commuters stranded for several hours along the busy T-Junction axis.
