A decomposed body has been found inside a parked vehicle by the annex gate of the National Assembly Complex in Abuja.
The security operatives attached to the National Assembly found the body suspected to be that of a labourer working at a construction site within the National Assembly complex.
It was learnt that the man was found in a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF around 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 7.
Sources said the body was initially evacuated to the National Assembly Clinic for confirmation before being taken to Asokoro General Hospital.
Meanwhile, the FCT Police Command has confirmed the incident, saying it has launched an investigation to unravel the mystery behind the incident.
Spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Monday, said the decomposing body had been deposited at the Asokoro General Hospital, while investigation into the incident had commenced.
Adeh said the FCT Command received a distress call on September 7, 2025, at about 09am, reporting the discovery of an unidentified male, suspected to be a labourer whose lifeless body was found at a construction site within the National Assembly Complex.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), National Assembly Division, immediately responded to the call and, upon arrival, discovered the deceased inside a red Peugeot 406 motor vehicle with registration number BWR-577 BF.
“The body was promptly evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition,” the FCT police spokesperson said.
